Why Water Utilities?

Inefficiency in the water resource utilization is a high cost that should be avoided. In the developing world the damages from underperforming water resources exceed $5 Billion annually; this is a recoverable substantial waste that can be redirected to other productive sectors.

Enlisting a private operator and manager in utilities is a competitive model optimally designed to recover such unnecessary losses. Achieving sustainable efficiencies is delivered through the integration of tested systems and effective training modules. Another win-win outcome from adopting the private-public partnership model, when compared to privatization, is that national resources remain in public hands and local skills are enhanced.

Engicon O&M has behind it successful achievements in Jordan and the Middle East. It has carried out competitive projects with governments through Public Private Partnerships (PPP) and Private Sector Participation (PSP) schemes.

One venture engagement, an agreement signed in 2009 with the German Association for Water, Wastewater and Waste (DWA) covers the period between 2010 and 2012. This venture provides specialized training programs for engineers, operators, and technicians from water utilities across the region. Engicon O&M, through its cooperation with DWA, has established itself as a high end provider of customized training courses in Jordan for MENA region clients in the field of water and wastewater.
